“I have been associated for two years with IHOPE, and work on two projects. One of them is developing training material to generate knowledge in clinical research, public health, and health economics in eye care. And the second one on conducting a study to explore the needs and access to eye care services at the primary level. The projects have been enriching and have provided me the opportunity to discover and learn. Working with a multidisciplinary team who come with rich experience in Public Health, Big Data, and Health Economics has given me a good understanding of eye care issues that impact people.”

"Being part of IHOPE and working at the intersection of healthcare, economics and public policy has been a truly enriching experience. The opportunity to interact, understand and share a workspace with the professionals at LVPEI, IIM and IIPH has enabled me to get a holistic view on research and health economics. "A big-data revolution is underway in health care, starting with the vastly increased supply of information. Over the last decade, pharmaceutical companies have been aggregating years of research and development data into medical databases, while payors and providers have digitized their patient records. At IHOPE, we are currently undertaking several projects that utilize pharmaceutical sales data as well as electronic medical records data of the LVPEI network of hospitals. Through this, we aim to produce empirical insights that could aid policymakers in making informed policy decisions. In the past year, I've learned a lot from the diverse perspective of the members of IHOPE, and hope that the wonderful work that the team is undertaking would leave a lasting impact on the discussions surrounding health policy."
